Gonzalo Venegas, M.D.

Dr VenegasDr. Gonzalo Venegas has been in practice for over twenty years. Born in Cotija Michoacán, Mexico, at a young age he went to Mexico City where he attended medical school and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology. With his heart full of dreams and hoping that one day he could make a difference in the community he immigrated to the United States in 1983. He then finished his education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Since Dr. Venegas started his practice in 1984, he has helped many people throughout his way. He started his practice with only five employees, he currently owns Women’s Specialty Center which is composed of three locations, five physicians and over fifty employees. His only priority has always been to give the best care possible to every woman. As president of The Venegas Medical Foundation and being part of several community organizations such as LULAC, The Mexico Institute, Casa Guanajuato, and Emmanuel Medical Mission he has made a difference in our community. With his participation in these organizations together they have been able to save lives and provide medical assistance to people in third world countries.

 

Sadia Khandaker, M.D., FACOG*

thumbnailDr. Khandaker was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to Dallas in 2017. She is agraduate from Queen’s University of Kingston, Ontario (Canada) with a Bachelor of Science (with Honors) in Life Sciences, and a minor in French Studies. She then went on to complete her medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine and completed her clinical rotations both in the US and in Canada. Dr. Khandaker received her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sunny Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She served as administrative chief resident in her final year, and at graduation, she received a surgical excellence award, and the "Doctor of the Year" honor from King's County Hospital Center. Following residency, she worked for the Middletown Community Health Center/Orange Regional Medical Center, in New York, from 2014-2018, and was recognized for teaching excellence during that time. Dr Khandaker lives in Dallas with her husband and baby, and her interests outside of OB/GYN include music, fitness, and trying new foods and restaurants!

Jeffrey Sandate, M.D.
Dr Sandate 150xDr. Jeffrey Sandate was born and raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where at a very early age he knew he wanted to become a physician. Throughout his grandmother’s battle with cancer, he was surrounded by such caring and compassionate doctors, which piqued his interest in the medical field. His commitment to becoming a physician took him to the University of Notre Dame, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-professional studies. He then attended medical school in his home state at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Sandate completed his residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, after which he settled in Dallas. Dr. Sandate has been providing compassionate care with Women’s Specialty Center since 2008. During this time, he has been a champion of providing innovative care and health education to women during all stages of life. He has had the privilege of serving as chairman of the Department of Ob/Gyn and performs his deliveries and major surgeries at the renowned Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Dr. Sandate speaks Spanish, and he truly believes in a down-to-earth approach to women’s health and always involving the patients in their medical decisions. His professional interests include:

  • Minimally invasive procedures, including: laparoscopy, DaVinci robotic surgeries,

Jorge A. Arzac, M.D., FACOG* - Retired from private practice in the State of Texas

Arzac portrait 100pxDr. Arzac was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. He graduated with honors from the first medical education program of the Universidad Anahuac, a program whose later recognition in the United States was spearheaded by his efforts. Soon after, he completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the high ranking program of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Arzac is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and has been licensed in the states of California, Arizona, Maryland, Wiscons, Texas and New Jersey.

Dr. Arzac's hobbies include listening to jazz music (let's give a shout out to the UNT Jazz Singers!), watching historical movies (loved Master and Commander, Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven) and hanging out with his family. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG).

Since 1996, he has been in private practice in Dallas where he has also enjoyed participating in the teaching and supervision of resident physicians at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas. However, upon a lot of reflection, he decided he wanted to be closer to his children. Dr. Arzac will be retiring from private practice in the State of Texas, and will see his last patient on September 30th, 2021 so that he can move to the New York/New Jersey area. All patient records will remain with Women's Specialty Center for the continued care of his patients.

Angelica Soto, APRN, FNP-BC
Angelica Soto 106 x 150Born and raised locally in Dallas, TX., Angelica Soto grew up in an indigent family. She was the third child of six, and both of her parents had very little education and lived in poverty. She was the first one in her family to not only graduate from high school but obtain a professional degree. At a very young age, she graduated from Nursing school and started working as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. After 10 years of working as a registered nurse, Angelica Soto decided to return to school and pursue a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington, she received her Masters Degree in Nursing. She says that her passion for serving humanity is the reason that she decided to go back to school. She realizes that with more education, she can provide help and services to the women in her community. Angelica Soto was featured in local news and was given an award as a distinguished student for her unique success story and her persistence in continuing her education. Education that she can use to provide the utmost care to her local community. Mrs. Soto feels that her past experiences in living in a poverty-stricken home, helps her relate and better understand her patient’s health care needs. She enjoys working at Women’s Specialty Center because she knows that this is a place that also has the same values as her. She also feels privileged to work alongside the best physicians. In her spare time, she volunteers at her local church. She helps mentor and guide a large adolescent group. She also enjoys traveling the world with her family and learning how other people live in other parts of the world.
